EXPLANATION: In 2023, Wellington adopted a policy (Government Speech Program, Signs in Wellington Public Rights-of-Way: Permanent, Non-Roadway Signs; VW-O-256) for permanent signs in public right-of-way to help achieve Wellington’s marketing objectives and to support public education and schools. The proposed sign is for Binks Forest Elementary School. The sign is proposed within the Bent Creek Road right-of-way to achieve better visibility of the sign messages. The current sign is located on the school property behind the property fence. The proposed location has been reviewed by the Planning and Engineering Departments.
Staff recommends approval of a signage and maintenance easement agreement between the Village of Wellington and the School Board of Palm Beach County for the installation of a marquee sign within the Bent Creek Road right-of-way for Binks Forest Elementary School. All costs associated with the construction and installation of the sign will be the responsibility of the School Board of Palm Beach County.
