A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING A GRANT UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT PROGRAM FOR THE VILLAGE PARK TREE PLANTING PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE SIGNATORY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
RESOLUTION NO. R2026-38 (BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES GRANT FUNDS OF $50,000)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026 GOVERNMENTAL CAPITAL FUND BUDGET FOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES GRANT FUNDS AWARDED FOR VILLAGE PARK TREE PLANTING PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2026-37 ratifying the Agreement with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for the Inflation Reduction Act Grant for the Village Park Tree Planting Project; and authorizing the Mayor, Village Manager, or Deputy Village Manager to enter into said agreement; and approval of Resolution No. R2026-38 for a budget amendment to allocate the $50,000 in grant monies to the General Fund.

EXPLANATION: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) administers the Inflation Reduction Act Grant Program to provide grants to promote to enhance local urban and community forestry programs and improve the urban environment within the state of Florida. This funding is provided to generate and maintain healthy urban forests.
FDACS has awarded $50,000 in grant funding for the Village Park Tree Planting Project. There is no match requirement for this grant.
Approval of Resolution No. R2026-37 authorizes the Mayor, Village Manager, or Deputy Village Manager to enter into an agreement with FDACS for the grant, and ratifies said agreement. Approval of the associated Budget Amendment Resolution No. R2026-38 will allocate the grant monies for the Project.
