ITEM:                     AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE VARIOUS CONTRACTS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF LAKE WELLINGTON PROFESSIONAL CENTER 

 

REQUEST:                     Authorization to utilize various contracts, as the basis for pricing, for the demolition of Lake Wellington Professional Center, located at 12161 Ken Adams Way, at a cost of $250,261.61 (Plans attached) and to remove demolished items from inventory and fixed assets.

EXPLANATION:                     The scope of the project includes demolition of existing building, site re-grading and restoration, installation of sod, sidewalk construction, light landscaping, irrigation system installation and resurfacing of parking areas. The project will commence in early January 2024 and will take approximately 60 days to complete. The following vendors and contracts will be utilized for this project:

 

                     The BG Group LLC - $135,997.11

o                     School Board of Broward County Contract FY23-255 - Demolition Services

o                     Contract Expiration Date: January 17, 2024

 

                     Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, Inc - $74,264.50

o                     Palm Beach County Contract R2023-0255 - Pathway & Minor Construction

o                     Contract Expiration Date: September 13, 2024

 

The project also includes a $40,000 owner controlled contingency.

 

In preparation for the demolition of Lake Wellington Professional Center, staff analyzed a list of all tangible personal property (TPP) for fixed assets located at this facility and have identified which items will be demolished along with the building. A detail summary of surplus items meeting disposition criteria per the Wellington Purchasing and Procurement Policy is attached as Exhibit A.

 

Staff recommends utilizing a School Board of Broward County and a Palm Beach County contract, as the basis for pricing, for the demolition of Lake Wellington Professional Center at a cost of $250,261.61 and to remove demolished items from inventory and fixed assets.
