ITEM:                     AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE A TASK ORDER TO HAZEN AND SAWYER TO PROVIDE WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY (WRF) SODIUM HYDROXIDE STORAGE AREA MODIFICATIONS

REQUEST:                     Authorization to execute a Task Order to Hazen and Sawyer to provide Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Sodium Hydroxide Storage Area Modifications in the amount of $73,223.00.

…body

EXPLANATION:                     The Village’s Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) currently utilizes two 3,900-gallon polyethylene bulk sodium hydroxide (NaOH) storage tanks in concrete secondary containment to feed chemical odor control scrubbers throughout the plant. The tanks were installed in 2011 and have reached the end of their useful life. Replacement is necessary to ensure continued safe operation and compliance with current industry standards.

This project will develop design and construction documents to replace the existing chemical storage system and related infrastructure to improve safety, functionality, and maintainability.

On September 28, 2021, the Village Council awarded RFQ #202121 for Engineering Services to multiple vendors. Hazen & Sawyer, D.P.C. was selected as one of the Village’s water and wastewater treatment engineering consulting service providers. Staff proposes utilizing this existing contract to engage Hazen & Sawyer, who will subcontract with Top Dog Industries LLC to perform professional engineering services for this project.

Staff recommends awarding a Task Order to Hazen & Sawyer to provide Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Sodium Hydroxide Storage Area Modifications in the amount of $73,223.00.
