REQUEST:                     Authorization to 1) Utilize existing contracts and award sole source contracts, and 2) Approve various FY 2025 Surface Water and Road Projects over $50,000.

EXPLANATION:                     The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to utilize existing contracts and award sole source contracts for various FY 2025 projects exceeding the Village’s $50,000 threshold.

 

The Surface Water Projects total approximately $2,201,000.00.  The Projects include: 1) Inspections and repairs for drainage infrastructure, drainage pipe lining and cleaning, canal rip rap installation, canal sloping and desilting, swale maintenance and reconstruction  2) Culvert #029 replacement at Galloway Trail  3) Pump Station 9 reconditioning trash rake  4) Pump Stations 3, 4 and 5 water lube conversion  5) Pump Station 5 backup pump replacement.

 

The Road Projects total approximately $720,000.00 for sidewalk repairs and road base/shell rock maintenance and repairs.

Due to mechanical issues such as oil leaks, seal failure and lower bearing areas, the pumps are in need of repairs on a 7 year rolling cycle.  MWI Corporation is the custom engineer and fabricator of MWI pumps and a sole source provider.
