REQUEST:                     Authorization to execute a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Amendment, and to utilize an existing Palm Beach County contract as a basis of pricing for Wellington Community Park Facility Renovation project in the amount of $1,544,401.68.

EXPLANATION:                     The Engineering department is seeking authorization to utilize a continuing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract with Burkhardt Construction, Inc., pursuant to RFQ# 202010, approved on May 12, 2020 by Village Council (renewed in April 2024 until May 11, 2025), and to utilize an existing Palm Beach County contract with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, Inc. as a basis of pricing for the Wellington Community Park Facility Renovation project.

 

The scope of work associated with the GMP includes the installation of two open play fields, two baseball/softball practice fields, a pre-fabricated restroom facility, sidewalks, sodding, and irrigation at a cost of $1,298,964.68.

 

In addition, staff is seeking authorization to utilize a Palm Beach County contract with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, Inc., as the basis for pricing, for the restoration of the parking area, including mill and overlay, striping, and accessible parking areas at a cost of $245,437.00.

 

The total cost of the project is $1,544,401.68, which includes an owner-controlled contingency in the amount of $100,000.  Also included in this proposal is a savings of $100,000 for grading and laser-leveling services to be provided by H&J Contracting at no additional cost to the Village. 

 

Staff recommends executing an amendment with Burkhardt Construction, Inc.  in the amount of $1,298,964.68, and approving a proposal from Wynn and Sons in the amount of $245,437, for the Wellington Community Park Facility Renovation project in the amount of $1,544,401.68.
