REQUEST:                     Authorization to 1) Utilize a Palm Beach County contract, as the basis for pricing, with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, Inc for the construction of pickleball courts at Greenbriar Park, at cost of $354,145.50 and 2) Approve Resolution No. R2024-22 amending the governmental capital fund budget for fiscal year 2023-2024 by reassigning capital project budgets to the Greenbriar Park Pickleball Courts project.

EXPLANATION:                     Staff is requesting authorization to utilize a Palm Beach County contract with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Company, Inc. for the construction of pickleball courts at Greenbriar Park at cost of $354,145.50, which includes $20,000.00 in owner controlled contingency. The Palm Beach County contract (Project #2022063) was executed on March 14, 2023 and expires September 13, 2024.   

 

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines the elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, into a lively, competitive game for all ages and abilities.  Wellington currently has pickleball courts at Village Park (indoor courts) and Greenview Shores Park (outdoor courts).  The project at Greenbriar Park will add six new courts in Wellington and it is anticipated to be completed 60-90 days from notice to proceed.
