A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING A GRANT UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM FOR THE WELLINGTON COMMUNITY CENTER PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
RESOLUTION NO. 2016-017 (FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION GRANT FUNDS)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2015-2016 CAPITAL FUND BUDGET FOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION GRANT FUNDS AWARDED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE WELLINGTON COMMUNITY CENTER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. 2016-016 authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and approval of Resolution No. 2016-017 for a budget amendment to allocate the $200,000 in grant monies to the Governmental Capital Fund revenue and expenditures.

EXPLANATION: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) administers the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Program to provide grants for outdoor recreation and conservation lands. The Wellington Community Center project includes an expanded boat facility and improvements to the observation boardwalk and pier as well as other outdoor amenities which qualify for grant funds under the LWCF program. The FDEP has awarded $200,000 in grant funding for the Community Center project to match Wellington’s investment in the outdoor recreation features of the project.
To accept the grant, the Village is required to sign and return two original copies of the Grant Agreement No. LW641 no later than February 29, 2016. Approval of Resolution No. 2016-016 authorizes the mayor to enter into an agreement with the FDEP for the grant. Approval of the associated Budget Amendment Resolution No. 2016-017 will allocate the grant revenue and expenditure for the WCC project.
