EXPLANATION: The IT Department is seeking authorization to utilize an Orange County Public School Radios, Portable Products and Accessories Contract ITB #2005168 with Radio One for upgrades to radio tower antennas and maintenance services. The contract was awarded on September 9, 2020 through September 8, 2023, with a two (2) one (1) year renewal options. The first renewal option has been exercised and the contract is valid through September 8, 2024.
The Village of Wellington uses hand-held radios for day-to-day communications as well as for events and emergency situations. The Village’s hand-held radio antennas located on the Village owned tower, are over ten (10) years old and need to be upgraded. The quote includes all new antennas, new cabling, parts, materials, labor for installation and removal of all antenna equipment. Additionally, the quote includes removal of old equipment from the tower; as well as, performing tower maintenance that was recommended as part of a recent tower inspection report. The cost for this project is $94,957.79 and includes a 10% contingency fund ($8,632.53).
Staff recommends utilizing an Orange County Public School Contract ITB #2005168 which expires on September 8, 2024, as basis for pricing, to Radio One for upgrades to the radio tower antennas, and maintenance services.
