EXPLANATION:                     The Pathfinders Scholarship Award Program, sponsored by the Palm Beach Post and now in its 41st year, recognizes students across 18 categories and honors high school seniors for their achievements.  There were 544 nominations received for this year’s Pathfinders Awards.  Fifty-four (54) in total were awarded scholarships.

Emilia McGovern, a senior at Wellington High School, was the first-place winner in the Business category and was awarded a $3,000 college scholarship to support her studies in Public Relations at the University of Florida.  This scholarship is specifically awarded to students who have displayed exceptional potential in business, entrepreneurship, or business innovation.  The selection process was based on the nominees' academic performance, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to the community.

Johnathon Bucknor, a senior at Wellington High School, was the second-place winner in the Theater Arts category and was awarded a $2,000 college scholarship and has been admitted to the University of Central Florida.  His academic focus will be on music with a minor in theater.  The Theater Arts scholarship is presented to students who have excelled in drama, set/costume design, production, and stagecraft.  Candidates were evaluated based on their expertise in theater arts, academic achievements, leadership, and community involvement.
