A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1.8.1 OF WELLINGTON’S LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS (LDR), DECLARING A ZONING IN PROGRESS FOR SECTION 6.10.6 RELATED TO RECREATIONAL VEHICLES (RV) AS TEMPORARY RESIDENCES WITHIN THE RUSTIC RANCHES OVERLAY ZONING DISTRICT (RROZD) FOR A PERIOD OF 180 DAYS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: To approve Resolution No. R2026-26 to approve a Zoning in Progress related to the use of RVs as temporary residences within the RROZD.
…body
EXPLANATION: The RROZD property owners have expressed the need to allow additional RVs on their properties for housing of staff and trainers. The number of RVs proposed to be permitted is similar to the groom’s quarters calculation of one groom’s quarter per four stalls. The Zoning in Progress is proposed to continue to work with the RROZD property owners to develop and adopt the regulations.
Section 6.10.6 of Wellington’s LDR is currently “Reserved” and is proposed to be amended to include the modified RV regulations for the Rustic Ranches area. The proposed zoning text amendment is drafted and is being coordinated with the Rustic Ranches property owners. The amendment is tentatively scheduled for the September Equestrian Preserve Committee Meeting and then will proceed to the Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board and Council. This ZIP is intended to address the current needs as well as the need for additional housing at the start of the fall equestrian season until such time as the amendment is adopted.
