ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO RENEW AN EXISTING CONTRACT WITH STERLING WATER TECHNOLOGIES, LLC FOR THE SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF LIQUID DISPERSION POLYMER

EXPLANATION: The Water Reclamation Facility uses liquid dispersion polymer to help thicken and remove water from the biosolids prior to the biosolids drying unit, for final processing. The end product is Class AA biosolids, the highest quality biosolids achievable.
On September 19, 2024, Council awarded ITB #202415 to Sterling Water Technologies, LLC, for the supply and delivery of liquid dispersion polymer. The initial term of the contract is effective September 19, 2024 through September 18, 2026 and allows for two (2) additional one (1) year renewals.
Sterling Water Technologies, LLC has requested a 4.6% increase, from the current price of $3.48 per pound to $3.64 per pound, resulting from a surcharge imposed by their supplier. Sterling provided supporting documentation from its supplier substantiating the surcharge. The supplier indicated that the surcharge will be reviewed regularly and adjusted or removed as market conditions stabilize. Any adjustments would be effective during the next renewal period. The financial impact of the increase is approximately $5,792 annually.
Staff requests authorization to exercise the first renewal option through September 18, 2027.
