EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department, Surface Water Division, maintains the Village's stormwater pump stations that provide critical flood control. Staff has determined that mechanical components at four pump stations require refurbishment to maintain reliable operations.

* Pump Station #4 is located at 10 Ousley Farms Road on the C-2 Canal and C-51 Canal. The trash raker was installed in 2004 and requires comprehensive reconditioning, including inspection, freight, rebuilding of the boom/rake head assembly with new components, preventative maintenance on motors and gearboxes, replacement of the conductor bar assembly, and full testing.

Hydro Component Systems, LLC is the original manufacturer and sole provider of the Village's trash rake systems. The cost for reconditioning is $89,470.00. Public Works has advised that the useful life of these repairs is estimated at approximately six (6) years. By comparison, the cost to replace this trash rake with similar equipment (excluding the frame) is approximately $450,000.00.

* Pump Station #3, located on the C-7 and C-51 Canals, was last reconditioned and converted to water-lubricated bearings in 2021. The current work involves repair of an MWI-manufactured, water-lubricated vertical line-shaft pump to restore operational performance. The scope includes transportation, crane and labor to pull and reset the pump, replacement of bearings and seals, welding repairs, impeller re-balancing, and sandblasting and epoxy coating of all wetted components.
