EXPLANATION: 1) Execute a Change Order with Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Emergency Generator 3 Replacement Project at a cost of $221,173.54.
On May 11, 2021, the Village Council awarded a continuing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract to Wharton-Smith, Inc. for Various Utility Water and Wastewater Capital Improvement Projects on a Continuing Contract Basis. On July 11, 2023, Council executed a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Emergency Generator 3 Replacement project at a cost of $2,940,600.00. Staff is seeking authorization to execute Change Order One to perform needed electrical service repairs on the existing M1 degasifier and scrubber system. Under this Change Order, Wharton-Smith is responsible for the construction of a repair of an electrical service between the Membrane Plant 1 Motor Control and the post treatment scrubbers and blowers for Membrane Plant 1 and the Lime plant. Plant staff was able to make a temporary above grade repair to operate the plant while the permanent repair is designed and constructed. $150,000.00 will be deducted from the Generator 3 project contingency and the funds will be unencumbered from this contract.
