A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA'S COUNCIL APPOINTING MEMBERS OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE (AHAC) CONSISTENT WITH ORDINANCE NO. 2022-04 AND SECTION 420.9076, FLORIDA STATUTES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

EXPLANATION: On March 22, 2022, the Wellington Council adopted Ordinance No. 2022-04, establishing the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) pursuant to section 420.0976 of the Florida Statutes. The Wellington Council shall appoint at least eight but not more than 11 committee members, and the committee must consist of at least one member of the Wellington Council and one representative from at least six of the categories listed in section 420.9076(a)-(k).
The goal of the AHAC is to assist in reviewing new strategies, enhancing existing strategies, providing community outreach and feedback, and helping to create SHIP Program policies and procedures. General duties of the committee range from recommending monetary and non-monetary incentives for affordable housing, recommending and establishing regulatory incentives, which is governments' primary tools for facilitating private sector development of affordable housing, reviewing policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and Wellington's Comprehensive Plan and providing recommendations to foster and promote affordable housing within Wellington.
