EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department maintains lightning prediction and warning systems at Village facilities to ensure public safety during severe weather events. The existing systems at Greenbrier Park and Tiger Shark Park require upgrading due to outdated software that is no longer supported. In addition, the Public Works facility currently has no lightning prediction coverage and requires a system installation.
Thor Guard, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of Thor Guard Lightning, Severe Storm and Tornado Prediction and Warning Systems and is the only authorized vendor for these proprietary products, parts, and services in the State of Florida. No other vendor is authorized to manufacture, install, or service these systems.
The scope of work includes purchasing and installing a complete lightning prediction and warning system that provides both audible and visual alerts during severe weather. This system includes the main Thor Guard TG360 prediction unit, the software that operates and monitors the system, the speaker and horn components that broadcast warnings, and multiple strobe and alert units placed throughout the area to ensure visibility. It also includes supporting equipment such as solar panels, communication receivers, control boards, and a battery-backup power supply so the system continues operating during outages. All necessary hardware, installation materials, and pole-mounting components are included, allowing the Village to fully upgrade the existing systems at Greenbrier Park and Tiger Shark Park and extend coverage to the Public Works facility.
