REQUEST:  Approval of the Public Safety Committee recommendations for the Top Cop and Top Firefighter for 2014.

EXPLANATION:  Annually the Village Council recognizes those Public Safety personnel that have been nominated as Wellington's Top Cop and Top Firefighter.
 
For 2014, both Captain Hart of the Wellington District 8 Sheriff's Office and Battalion Chief Michael Arena of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Battalion 2 nominated their respective candidates for this award.  Captain Hart's nominations included Deputy Robert Kovach, Deputy Charles Rhoads, Deputy Scott Poritz and the District 8 Street Team headed by Sergeant Roy DeMarco.  Chief Arena's nominations included Captain Darla Leal, Captain Kimberly Hude and Captain Chris Yurick.  
 
These nominations were presented to the Public Safety Committee for consideration at the June 25th regular meeting, at which time the Committee selected this year's winners.  The Public Safety Committee selected Sergeant Roy DeMarco and the District 8 Street Team for Wellington's Top Cop for 2014 and Captain Darla Leal for Wellington's Top Firefighter for 2014.
