EXPLANATION: The Utility Department's water distribution system is comprised of pipes and valves that deliver treated potable water to its customers. The system includes approximately 2400 fire hydrants that are critical for local area fire protection. The American Water Works Association (AWWA) recommends all water utilities maintain a program that ensures hydrants are inspected and flushed on a regular basis. The Utility has an ongoing program where all hydrants and valves in the system are maintained on a two-year cycle to ensure good working operation when these assets are needed in an emergency. The valve maintenance program was recently completed by R&M under this contract. This approval covers system hydrant maintenance including checking fire hydrant isolation valves, lubrication of all nozzles and outlets, flushing hydrants, performing flow tests, painting all hydrants, and addressing any hydrant deficiencies.

On April 16, 2024, the Town of Jupiter awarded Contract W2423 to R & M Service Solutions, LLC for Valve and Hydrant Maintenance. The initial two-year term expired on April 30, 2026. Contract provisions allow for one additional two-year renewal and one additional one-year renewal, for a total potential contract period of five years.

On March 26, 2026, the Town of Jupiter executed Change Order No. 2, renewing Contract W2423 for an additional two-year term effective April 30, 2026 through April 29, 2028. The renewal includes:
