EXPLANATION: To amend Article 6 of Wellington’s Land Development Regulations (LDR) by amending Sections 6.2.2.A - supplementary standards for vacation rentals.
The Florida Statutes (509.032(7)(b)) preempts Wellington from regulating the length or frequency of stay of a vacation rental. The proposed changes revise the supplementary standards that are not preempted. The proposed amendments address issues in administering the supplemental standards since the effective date of Ordinance No. 2023-13, adopted in February 2023.
On October 16, 2024, Wellington’s Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board (PZAB) recommended approval of the text amendment with a 7 - 0 vote.
