ITEM:                     REAPPOINTMENT OF CODE COMPLIANCE SPECIAL MAGISTRATE ALAN ZANGEN, ESQ.

REQUEST:                     Discussion of and authorization to reappoint Special Magistrate Zangen for a two-year term effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.

…body

EXPLANATION:                     The term for Wellington Special Magistrate Alan Zangen, Esq. expires June 30, 2025.  Pursuant to section 2-42 of Wellington’s Code of Ordinances, one or more persons may be appointed as a special magistrate by Wellington’s Council to serve a two-year term and may be reappointed for an additional two-year term every two years thereafter unless the magistrate no longer wishes to serve or is removed by Wellington’s Council.

Approximately 120 days before a magistrate’s two-year term expires,  the magistrate is contacted to determine if the magistrate wishes to continue to serve.  If the special magistrate wishes to continue to serve, Council is notified of the magistrate’s response and Council will then decide whether to continue the special magistrate’s service or remove the special magistrate.

Special Magistrate Alan Zangen has expressed an interest in continuing to serve.  If reappointed, Special Magistrate Zangen’s two-year term would commence on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2027.

Currently, the terms of Michael Posner and Hawn Hollie expire in 2026.
