ITEM: RATIFICATION OF EMERGENCY WORK PERFORMED TO REPAIR A WATER MAIN FAILURE
REQUEST: Ratification of emergency work performed by Johnson-Davis, Inc. to repair the South Shore Blvd and Vinings Circle water main failure in the amount of $62,500.00.

EXPLANATION: On July 29, 2024, a water valve on the existing 16-inch water main located at South Shore Blvd and Vinings Circle experienced an unforeseen failure. Due to this unforeseen failure and the depth of excavation for the required repair, Utilities staff engaged Johnson-Davis, Inc. to mobilize and provide emergency repair work. Staff utilized a City of Boynton Beach contract as a basis for pricing (Bid No. 019-2521-19/IT Repairs and Emergency Services for Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Storm Water Utility Systems) to complete the repair work. The contract is valid through November 7, 2024.

Pursuant to the Purchasing Manual, emergency purchases are exempt from competition in an emergency situation, when the need is the result of a serious and unexpected occurrence and demands immediate action. However, emergency purchases over $50,000 still require Council approval.
Staff is requesting ratification of emergency work performed by Johnson-Davis, Inc. for the South Shore Blvd. and Vinings Circle emergency water main repair in the amount of $62,500.00.
