ITEM: RESOLUTION NO. R2026-14 (INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR LAKE WORTH ROAD)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL, APPROVING THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR THE TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF A PORTION OF LAKE WORTH ROAD, LOCATED DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO PANTHER RUN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL; AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2026-14 to approve the Interlocal Agreement transferring ownership, operation, and maintenance responsibilities for a portion of Lake Worth Road related to the annexation of the roadway fronting Panther Run Elementary School.

EXPLANATION: An Interlocal Agreement (ILA) between Wellington and Palm Beach County is required by Palm Beach County for the Lake Worth Road Annexation (Ordinance No. 2026-08). The ILA transfers ownership, operations, and maintenance of the portion of Lake Worth Road that is directly adjacent to Panther Run Elementary School.
The approved ILA will be transmitted to Palm Beach County for approval by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). The tentative date for the BCC action on the ILA is July 15, 2026. Once the ILA is approved by both Wellington and the BCC, the adoption of the annexation will be scheduled.
