EXPLANATION: On September 28, 2021, Council awarded a professional consulting services contract (RFQ 202121) to multiple vendors. As part of the solicitation, Simmons and White, Inc. was selected as one of the Village's professional consulting service providers for traffic engineering. Staff is seeking authorization to utilize such contract with Simmons & White, Inc. to provide professional consulting services for the design of a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon signal at the Pierson Road horse crossing just east of the Wellington International Exhibitor Entrance.
The installation of a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon signal is intended to enhance safety of equestrian and pedestrian traffic near the Wellington International Exhibitor entrance. The Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon signal will be designed in accordance with criteria established in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Services include signalization design, survey, structural analysis, geotechnical investigation, utility coordination, soft dig supervision, and construction phase services.
The scope of design services is expected to be completed within 4 months.
Staff recommends approving a task order to Simmons & White, Inc. to provide engineering consulting services for the Pierson Road Horse Crossing Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon signal design, in the amount of approximately $83,494.00.
