ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A TASK ORDER TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE FOREST HILL BOULEVARD/C-8 CANAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
REQUEST: Authorization to award a task order to Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. to provide engineering design services for the Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 canal improvement project at a cost of $76,355.00.

EXPLANATION: On January 12, 2016, Council awarded an engineering services contract (011-15/ED) to multiple vendors. Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. was selected as one of Wellington's engineering service providers. Staff is seeking authorization to utilize such contract with Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. to provide engineering services for the Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 canal improvement project.
The storm pipe under Forest Hill Boulevard is in poor condition and requires replacement. The Forest Hill/C-8 Canal Improvement Project includes the replacement/resizing of the storm drainage canal pipe under Forest Hill Boulevard. The Engineering Department recommends replacing the existing 72" corrugated metal storm drainage pipe connecting the C-8 canal under Forest Hill Boulevard with reinforced concrete pipe(s) with concrete headwalls. The pipe replacement, which is part of the Acme capital improvement plan, will provide for long term operation and maintenance of the Acme surface water management system. The project includes paving, grading, signage and striping for the repair of Forest Hill Boulevard and for the possible extension of the Forest Hill Boulevard left turn lane onto Stribling Way.
The engineering scope of work with Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. includes the design, permitting and bidding of the project.
Staff recommends awarding a task order to Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. to provide engineering services for the Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 canal improvement project at a cost of $76,355.00.
