ITEM: RESOLUTION NO. R2026-43 (PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DISTRICT 8 WELLINGTON FY2027 BUDGET AND CONTRACT)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA’S COUNCIL APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CLERK TO EXECUTE THE FIFTH ADDENDUM TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FOR FY 2027; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

EXPLANATION: In March 2026 , correspondence was received from PBSO indicating that they were proposing a 3% increase to the existing contract, with no staffing changes
In accordance with Wellington’s Law Enforcement Services Agreement (LESA) with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff has submitted a proposal in the form of the Fifth Addendum to the Law Enforcement Service Agreement for FY2027 (attached). The proposal includes a proposed 3% increase for FY2027, with no staffing changes. . The proposed contract total for FY2027 is $12,157,478.00, an increase of $354,101.00 over FY2027.
Additionally, the cost for additional law enforcement services (overtime) has increased from $132.00 per hour to $142.00 per hour for a Deputy Sheriff and from $172.00 to $183.00 per hour for a Sergeant. Wellington also has the option of submitting an application for an off-duty permit deputy for additional services.
