EXPLANATION:   To amend Article 6 of Wellington’s Land Development Regulations (LDR) by eliminating Section 6.10.6 relating to the use of Recreational Vehicles as temporary housing within the Rustic Ranches community.

 

The Rustic Ranches Overlay Zoning District (RROZD) was adopted by the Council in 2006. These overlay district regulations are specific to Rustic Ranches and limited the use of recreational vehicles (RV) as a temporary residence within Rustic Ranches to only two (2) consecutive weeks during a calendar year. In 2019, the Equestrian Overlay Zoning District (EOZD) regulations were amended to allow RVs as a temporary residence on properties five (5) acres or more for a six (6) month period with the issuance of an Equestrian Permit. The “conflicts clause” within the RROZD regulations supersedes the updated EOZD regulations.  Rustic Ranches is the only Subarea within the EOZD with the two-week limitation. The proposed amendment will apply the EOZD RV regulation in all subareas.     

 

SUMMARY:                     To amend Article 6 of Wellington’s Land Development Regulations (LDR) by eliminating Sections 6.10.6 relating to the use of Recreational Vehicles as temporary housing within the Rustic Ranches community.
