ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD CONTRACTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF MULCH, PINE STRAW AND GROUND PREPARATION, FOR MAINTENANCE PROJECTS, VILLAGE-WIDE
REQUEST: Authorization to award contracts to Amerigrow Recycling-Delray, Limited Partnership and East Coast Mulch Corp. for the purchase of mulch, pine straw and ground preparation, Village-wide, in the amount of approximately $121,000.

EXPLANATION: The Public Works Department utilizes various mulch materials to maintain facilities throughout the Village.
On March 8, 2022, the Village released ITB #202208, on Demandstar, seeking qualified firms to provide such services. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington’s website. On April 6, 2022, two (2) proposals were received meeting the required specifications. The Public Works Department is requesting authorization to award contracts to both vendors as shown on Exhibit A attached.

The initial term of the contract is for one (1) year from date of award with the option to renew for four (4) additional one (1) year periods.
Staff recommends awarding contracts to both qualified bidders, and will utilize the unit prices provided by each, to determine the lowest priced vendor on a project-by-project basis.
