A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA'S COUNCIL APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR LANDSCAPE, HEDGING, AND PARKING AREA IMPROVEMENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF WELLINGTON AND SOUTH SHORE HOTEL ASSOCIATES, LLC; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

EXPLANATION: Since the inception of Wellington's Municipal Complex at 12300 Forest Hill Boulevard, Wellington has hosted, sponsored, and permitted numerous public events. Due to the limited on-site parking options at the Municipal Complex, the Village of Wellington and the neighboring commercial property (owned by South Shore Hotel Associates, LLC) have maintained an agreement to accommodate event-generated overflow parking at the Chancellor Corporate Center at no cost to the Village. As a condition of the agreement, Wellington agreed that if any property damage to the parking area or landscaping was caused by pedestrian or vehicular traffic as a result of Wellington's use for public events, Wellington would pay for the repair/restoration. Last year, it was observed by both parties that wear and tear to the parking lot can be attributed to the ongoing Wellington special event generated traffic. In addition, it was observed that foot traffic from the events had caused damage to a portion of the hedge along Ken Adams Way. As outlined in the improvement agreement, Wellington has agreed to fund a portion of the repair costs. Costs for the asphalt repairs (seal coating, striping, and asphalt repairs) totals approximately $50,000. Staff recommends a $25,000 contribution towards the asphalt repairs and $8,600 in hedge repairs.
