ITEM: TASK ORDER APPROVAL FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $40,000 FOR EVALUATION OF WELLINGTON'S DRAINAGE SYSTEM
REQUEST: Approval of the Engineering Task Order for Evaluation of Wellington's Drainage System.
...body
EXPLANATION: Wellington needs to conduct an engineering evaluation of its Storm Water Management System to address the following issues:
1) Wellington recently completed significant modifications to its drainage system in order to comply with water quality requirements mandated by various State and Federal agencies. Now that the modifications are complete, it is necessary to evaluate the modifications to verify and/or determine any deficiencies and identify improvements to address the deficiencies. This proposed engineering evaluation will provide the information necessary to properly evaluate and support projects for inclusion in the Acme Improvement District's Water Control Plan.
2) The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently has proposed revisions to the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM's) for Wellington that significantly impact flood insurance rates for Wellington residents. The maps proposed by FEMA over estimate flood water elevations in Wellington during severe storm events and do not align with actual flood water elevations witnessed and experienced by Wellington during severe storm events. This proposed engineering evaluation will provide the necessary supporting documentation to: A) demonstrate to FEMA that its proposed FIRM's over estimate flood elevations in Wellington and B) provide the basis for FIRM's that reflect actual conditions for Wellington.
The engineering firm proposed to perform this Task Order (Attached as Exhibit A) is Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. Wellington entered into a continuing engineering services contract with Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. on October 11, 2011 (Attached as Exhibit B). The scope of work outlined in the proposed Task Order addre...
