A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA'S COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DIVISION OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS CULTURAL FACILITIES PROGRAM REQUESTING $500,000 FOR THE WELLINGTON COMMUNITY CENTER AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING AN AMOUNT OF $1,000,000 AS THE VILLAGE'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WELLINGTON COMMUNITY CENTER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2015-39 authorizing staff to submit a grant application to the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Cultural Facilities Program requesting funds in the amount of $500,000 for the construction of the Wellington Community Center.

EXPLANATION: The Village has an opportunity to apply for funding in the amount of $500,000 from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Cultural Facilities Program. The program (summary attached) provides financial support for the renovation, construction and acquisition of cultural facilities including multi-purpose community centers. The maximum grant amount is $500,000 and requires a 1 to 2 match, in Wellington's case, $1,000,000. The funding match is budgeted as part of the Wellington Community Center project and will be available on July 1, 2015. The application deadline is June 15, 2015.
