ITEM: RESOLUTION NO. R2015-40 (URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA'S COUNCIL APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2015-40 authorizing the Mayor to execute a Memorandum of Agreement between Wellington and the State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry.

EXPLANATION: In March, 2015, Wellington submitted an application for grant funding to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry for the 2015 National Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program (grant submittal attached). As stated in the grant application, the project will "improve the ability of the Village to expand its tree maintenance and protection capabilities. The project will improve the function and efficiency of the Village of Wellington's Urban Forest Program. The long term goal of the project is to enhance the urban forest in the most visible area of Wellington and to promote the long term viability of the urban forest."
As part of the grant application, there is a requirement that a Resolution in support of the grant program and authorizing Wellington to enter into the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) be included. At such time as the Village is awarded the grant, the MOA will be executed.
