ITEM:  AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE A SOUTHEAST FLORIDA COOPERATIVE CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE 

 

REQUEST:  Authorization to utilize a Southeast Florida Co-Op contract with Allied Universal Corporation, as a basis for pricing, for the purchase and delivery of sodium hydroxide in the amount of approximately $32,000 annually.

EXPLANATION:  Sodium Hydroxide (caustic soda) is a liquid chemical used at both the Water Treatment Facility and the Water Reclamation Facility to control odors caused by hydrogen sulfide, which is a naturally occurring compound found in local groundwater and in wastewater. 

 

The City of Margate, acting as the lead agency for the Southeast Florida Co-Op, awarded contract #2017-008 to Allied Universal Corporation effective April 17, 2017 through April 16, 2018 for the purchase and delivery of sodium hydroxide in the amount of $1.69 per gallon price for full truckload deliveries.  

 

Staff requests authorization to utilize a Southeast Florida Co-op contract with Allied Universal Corporation for the purchase and delivery of sodium hydroxide in the amount of approximately $32,000 annually.
