REQUEST:  Authorization to utilize an annual public works contract with Murray Logan Construction, Inc., to desilt portions of the C-4 and C-25 canals (location maps attached), at an estimated cost of $171,384.00.

EXPLANATION:  The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to utilize an annual public works contract (#007-15/DZ), previously approved by Council on July 14, 2015, with Murray Logan Construction, Inc., to desilt portions of the C-4 and C-25.  Desilting the canals will clear the sandbars and any obstructions in the canal.  Below is a summary of the projects:

 

                     C-4 canal between C-25 and C-26 - $85,692.00

                     C-25 canal between South Shore Blvd and 130th Ave. - $85,692.00

 

All estimates are based on unit pricing contained in the contract previously approved by Council. Although this contract is not set to expire for some time, the individual projects exceed $25,000 and require Council approval.

 

Staff is seeking authorization to utilize an annual public works contract to desilt portions of the C-4 and C-25 canals at an estimated cost of $171,384.00.
