ITEM: FISCAL YEAR 2018 KEELY SPINELLI GRANT AWARDS
REQUEST: Presentation of the FY 2018 Keely Spinelli Grant Awards.

EXPLANATION: A total of $400,000 was approved in the FY 2018 budget for the Keely Spinelli Grant Program. Of this, $297,000 was allocated to fund Wellington area schools with approximately $27,000 each, to assist students in the lowest 25th percentile in reading and math. A representative from each Wellington area school will be present to receive their Keely Spinelli grant checks. Grant applications submitted by each school (summary attached) were approved by the Education Committee at their August 29, 2017 meeting. A summary of each school’s request is listed below:

Panther Run Elementary $26,996.44

In addition, staff is working together with Wellington area schools to fund and manage an educational summer camp program, for students requiring assistance in reading and math, during the summer break. A total of $103,000 was allocated, as part of the FY 2018 budget, to fund this program. Details will be provided as they become available.
