ITEM: MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISCUSSION: COUNCIL WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS THE REGULATION OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSING FACILITIES.
REQUEST: Review alternatives prepared by staff for the regulation of potential future proposals to locate Medical Marijuana Dispensing facilities and provide direction for proceeding with one of them.

EXPLANATION: In late January of this year Council reviewed a proposed ordinance that would regulate the size, number and location of Pharmacy facilities, with the knowledge that Medical Marijuana Dispensing facilities must be treated the same as pharmacies. At that time Council decided not to move forward with adoption, and requested that staff draft a proposed ordinance that would establish a temporary moratorium on such facilities and a third ordinance that would prohibit them. These alternative ordinances have been drafted for discussion and a determination on which to proceed with.
