EXPLANATION:  This past October, the Village of Wellington participated in the Read-for-the-Record Competition.  The book that was featured this year was “Quakers”.  Members of the Village Council and staff read the book at Wellington elementary schools, charter schools and pre-schools in the Wellington area, as well as at the Fall Festival.  Wellington was awarded First Place for reading to 7,219 children, which was more than any other municipality.  The Literary Coalition awarded Wellington with a basket of children’s book.
