EXPLANATION:  First LEGO League (FLL) began in Florida in 2001 with 40 teams, expanding to 800 teams statewide by 2016.  Florida is divided into five regions, all run by volunteer First LEGO League Partners and has expanded from a single tournament in 2001 to hosting more than 50 qualifying tournaments and five regional tournaments.  Winners proceed to the FLL State Championship.

This is the first year that Elbridge Gale Elementary School has competed in this competition. This awesome team of fourth and fifth graders was the overall champion at the January 28th local competition and will compete in the South Florida First LEGO League Regional Championship scheduled to take place on February 24th at Boynton Beach Community High School.  Participants build and program fully autonomous LEGO based robots as well as complete a research based project and related presentation.
