ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE RECONDITIONING OF THE TRASH RAKE AT PUMP STATION 3
REQUEST: Authorization to award a contract to Hydro Components Systems LLC for the reconditioning of the trash rake at Pump Station 3 in the amount of $40,000.

EXPLANATION: Pump Station 3 is located on the C-7 canal between Forest Hill Boulevard and Big Blue Trace, which discharges into the C-51 canal along the south side of State Road 80. The trash rake at Pump Station 3 was installed in 2005 and is in need of reconditioning. The trash rake removes debris, which the pumps carry to the bar screens in front of the pump stations, while the pumps are running. Wellington currently has six (6) trash rakes Village-wide and Hydro Components Systems LLC is the manufacturer of the equipment.
The cost for the reconditioning is approximately $40,000. The cost to replace the trash rake is approximately $175,000.
Pursuant to Chapter 3 of the Village’s Purchasing Manual, maintenance of equipment is exempt from competition when services are provided by the equipment manufacturer or manufacturer’s service representative; however, since expenditures exceed $25,000, Council approval is required.
Staff recommends awarding a contract to Hydro Components Systems LLC for the reconditioning of the trash rake at Pump Station 3 in the amount of $40,000.
