ITEM: WELLINGTON’S ANNUAL WASTE MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOLARSHIP
EXPLANATION: Each year Wellington, in partnership with Waste Management, offers an Environmental Scholarship which is open to graduating seniors of Wellington high schools who are planning to attend a 4 year college or university. The scholarship provides for a one-time $1,500 scholarship and a one-time $1,000 scholarship for students demonstrating excellence in the classroom and the community and who will pursue education or a professional path in fields relating to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Applications are due by April 13, 2018. The Education Committee will select four winners, two from Wellington Community High School and two from Palm Beach Central High School. Selections will be made at the May 1, 2018 Education Committee meeting.
A copy of the guidelines and application are attached.
A representative from Waste Management will be in attendance to respond to questions.
