EXPLANATION: The Utility Department's water distribution system is comprised of a system of pipes and valves that deliver treated potable water to its residential and commercial customers. The system includes approximately 4,000 isolation valves that assist the Department in maintaining water quality, and with outage management. These valves generally range in size from 6 to 16 inches. In order to facilitate locating the valves, it is standard practice to install a small concrete pad around the valve box at land surface. The Department has been actively locating all of the valves and inputting them into the Village's Geographic Information System (GIS). During this effort, it was discovered that many of the valves do not have concrete collars others were covered over by grass or completely removed by homeowners. This contract with Wynn and Son's in the amount of $45,900, will provide for the installation of approximately 300, 2' x 2', concrete pads to help protect and easily locate the valves.

On January 23, 2018, Palm Beach County awarded contract #R2018-0012 (Project #2017055) until January 23, 2019.

Staff recommends utilizing Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012, as a basis for pricing, with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc., a Western Communities local vendor, for the Utility Valve Concrete Collar Installations at a cost of $45,900.00.
