ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE K-PARK LANDSCAPE BUFFER
REQUEST: Authorization to award a contract to A Cut Above Landscape & Maintenance, Inc., for the K-Park Landscape Buffer in the amount of $360,000.

EXPLANATION: Between 2002 and 2013, the Village collected fees, (landscape assessment) as part of development projects, along the State Road 7 corridor, with the intent to use the fees for beautification along the corridor. The Village is proposing to utilize such fees to install landscape and irrigation along State Road 7 and Stribling Road, adjacent to and on Village property at K Park. The scope of the project includes providing irrigation and installation of selected plants and trees. In addition, the contractor is responsible for transplantation of select palms and crape myrtles currently located at the Greenbriar Park Village nursery (extraction, transport and installation).
On April 8, 2018, Wellington released ITB #014-18/MM on Demandstar, seeking qualified firms to provide such services. The solicitation was also advertised in the Palm Beach Post and posted on Wellington’s website. On May 23, 2018, five (5) proposals were received.

Staff is recommending award of contract to A Cut Above Landscape & Maintenance, Inc., the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, for the K-Park Landscape Buffer in the amount of $360,000 or $19,000 less than the lowest bidder.
As a unit price contract, staff will utilize the unit costs in the bid to complete the project within the current funding available in the landscape assessment fund of $360,000.
