ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A TASK ORDER TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE FOREST HILL BOULEVARD/C-8 CANAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

EXPLANATION: On February 21, 2018, the Village released ITB#006-18/DZ seeking qualified contractors for the Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 Canal improvement project. On March 28, 2018, we received four (4) bids that met the minimum requirements of the solicitation.
The total budget for this project was $2.2 million or $337,648.60 less than the low bid. In an effort to reduce costs, on May 15, 2018, the Village rejected all bids. It is our intent to re-bid the project and include lower cost installation options. Mock Roos did the original design and this task order authorizes the engineering required for the installation options
The original design included micro-tunneling a new pipe under Forest Hill Boulevard. The new bid documents will include an alternate to open-cut, remove and replace the culverts within the Forest Hill Boulevard/C-8 Canal right of ways.
Staff recommends awarding a task order to Mock Roos and Associates, Inc. to provide the engineering services required for alternate installation options at a cost of $38,058.00.
