EXPLANATION: Annually the Village Council recognizes those Public Safety personnel that have been nominated as Wellington’s Top Cop and Top Firefighter.
For 2018, both Captain Silva of the Wellington District 8 Sheriff’s Office and Battalion Chief William Rowley of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue nominated their respective candidates for this award. Captain Silva’s nominations included Detective Daniel Delia, Deputy Sheriff Marie Steakin and Deputy Sheriff Ricardo Cordero. Chief Rowley’s nominations included Firefighter / Paramedic Jesse Bogle and Captain Bob Dawson.
These nominations were presented to the Public Safety Committee for consideration at the July 11th regular meeting, at which time the Committee selected this year’s candidates. The Committee selected Detective Daniel Delia for Wellington’s Top Cop for 2018 and Captain Bob Dawson for Wellington’s Top Firefighter for 2018. This year’s candidates are in attendance to accept their awards.
