EXPLANATION: As a result of Hurricane Irma, Pump Station 3 sustained erosion of its canal bank and displacement of riprap upstream and downstream. Staff contacted the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and requested funding through the Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP). The Emergency Watershed Protection Program was established by Congress to respond to emergencies created by natural disasters and is designed to relieve imminent hazards to life and property caused by floods, fires, windstorms, and other natural occurrences. The United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service is responsible for administering the program. NRCS has awarded the Village $210,424.30 in grant funding, for restoration of the canal bank located at Pump Station 3.
