ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE A PALM BEACH COUNTY CONTRACT WITH WYNN & SONS ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR THE FOREST HILL BOULEVARD BUS STOP DRAINAGE REPAIR
REQUEST: Authorization to utilize Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012 with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc., as a basis for pricing, for the Forest Hill Boulevard Bus Stop Drainage Repair at a cost of $41,892.00.

EXPLANATION: The Public Works Staff inspected an area of asphalt pavement rutting/deterioration located in front of the bus stop near the intersection of Forest Hill Boulevard and Wellington Trace (north). The pavement problem is caused by storm water getting trapped in the existing swale, when the bus stop was originally constructed. This in turn, has caused the water table to be higher in this area, which has subsequently caused the asphalt pavement issue.
The Engineering Department has completed the design of the project. A "dog house" drainage structure will be set over the existing drainage pipe. The drainage structure will then allow the trapped storm water to be removed from the area. Associated work such as concrete/asphalt work, maintenance of traffic, curb replacement, grading, sodding, dewatering and irrigation repair will also be completed as part of this project.
The Engineering Staff recommends Wynn & Sons Construction Company, utilizing a previously awarded unit price contract, to complete this project.
Staff recommends utilizing Palm Beach County contract #R2018-0012, as a basis for pricing, with Wynn & Sons Environmental Construction Co., Inc., a Western Communities local vendor, for the Forest Hill Blvd Bus Stop Drainage Repair in the amount of $41,892.00, including a twenty percent (20%) contingency for any unforeseen conditions.
