ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO UTILIZE A STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF A NIMBLE STORAGE ADAPTIVE FLASH BASE ARRAY

REQUEST: Authorization to utilize State of Florida alternate contract #43211500-WSCA-15-ACS, as a basis for pricing, for the purchase and delivery of a Nimble Storage Adaptive Flash Base Array with CDW-G in the amount of $242,769.95.

...body
EXPLANATION: The Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking authorization to utilize a State of Florida alternate contract for the purchase and delivery of a Nimble Storage Adaptive Flash Base Array, which will increase performance to meet the current requirements for physical and virtual server environments. The new Nimble Array will allow for scalable, more efficiency, more capacity and greater speed.

The Nimble Storage Array will replace the current storage unit, purchased in February 2014, and currently houses all of the Village's daily working files and data. The current storage unit end of life (EOL) is May 2019, after which Nimble will no longer support the hardware or software. The new Nimble Array will increase day-to-day and future usage requirements.

In order to ensure competitive pricing, staff obtained two (2) additional quotes from Presidio and Hewlett Packard Enterprises and the State of Florida contract provided the best value to the Village. The State of Florida contract is an alternate contract source with the State of Minnesota, which was competitively solicited and awarded to multiple vendors with an expiration date of March 31, 2020.

Rather than making an initial investment of $242,769.95, staff is recommending the Village lease the equipment through HP Financial Services for 36 months, at a cost of $7,226.12 monthly, with a $1 purchase option at the end of the 36 months term. HP Financial Services provides the most competitive leasing options.
