ITEM:  AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD TASK ORDERS FOR THE  WATER TREATMENT PLANT RENEWAL AND REPLACEMENT PROJECT 

 

REQUEST:  Authorization to award task orders to Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $68,520 for the Water Treatment Plant Renewal and Replacement Project.

EXPLANATION:  On January 24, 2017, Council awarded a task order for the design finalization and construction phase services for the Water Treatment Plant Renewal and Replacement Project, in the amount of $1,025,850.    Construction has commenced on this two year project. The Weiss Construction Contract in the amount of $17,005,300 included three (3) Allowances in the amount of $740,000 for improvements directly related to these Work Authorizations. Additionally, the Contract provided for $1,447,300 in contingencies. No new funding is required.

 

Work Authorization No. 1 includes design finalization of the operator control room and will be paid for out of Contract Contingencies. Work Authorization 2 includes finalization of the interior architectural finish package and will be paid from Contract Allowance No.1. Work Authorization 3 and 4 includes engineering evaluation and design services to improve finished water quality during construction and will be paid from Contract Allowance 5.

 

Pursuant to the Village’s Purchasing Manual, change orders shall not exceed $50,000, without prior approval from the Village Council. 

 

Staff is requesting authorization to award additional task orders to Kimley Horn as summarized below:

 

1.                     Control Room Build-Out Modification Services - $20,220.00

2.                     Architectural Interior Finishes Modification Services  - $6,750

3.                     Booster Station 1 - Phase 1: Water Quality Improvements  - $22,550

4.                     Booster Station 1 - Phase 2: Water Quality Improvements - $19,000

 

Staff recommends awarding task orders for the Water Treatment Plant Renewal and Replacement Project in the amount of $68,520.
