ITEM: RESOLUTION NO. R2019-20 (PALM BEACH TRANSPORTATION PLANNING AGENCY - LOCAL INITIATIVES GRANT APPLICATION)
A RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON, FLORIDA'S COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE PALM BEACH TRANSPORTATION PLANNING AGENCY FOR A LOCAL INITIATIVES GRANT REQUESTING $1,781,058 TO CONSTRUCT BICYCLE LANES ON GREENBRIAR BOULEVARD FROM AERO CLUB DRIVE TO GREENVIEW SHORES BOULEVARD; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
REQUEST: Approval of Resolution No. R2019-20, authorizing the Village Manager or his designee to submit a grant application to the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) requesting funds in the amount of $1,781,058 to construct bicycle lanes on Greenbriar Boulevard from Aero Club Drive to Greenview Shores Boulevard.

EXPLANATION: Wellington has an opportunity to apply for funding from the TPA in the amount of $1,781,058. The Local Initiatives program (summary attached) provides financial support to help advance lower-cost, non-regionally significant transportation projects identified by Palm Beach County communities. If awarded, the grant money would go toward constructing nearly two miles of bike lanes on Greenbriar Boulevard. These bike lanes would connect to existing bike lanes on Greenview Shores Boulevard, and to proposed bike lanes on Aero Club Drive which were previously approved for grant funding from TPA.
