REQUEST: Authorization to award a contract to Ferreira Construction Company, Inc. for the Essex Park Observation Platform in the amount of $463,138.70.

EXPLANATION: This project is located at 1250 Essex Drive and will improve Essex Park with the addition of an observation platform along the Acme C13A Canal. The park site improvements include sidewalks, fencing, water service, resurfacing of play areas, landscaping, deck lighting and sidewalk bollard lighting.

On March 4, 2019, Wellington released ITB 201904 seeking qualified firms to provide such services. On April 9, 2019, the Village received four (4) proposals as summarized below:

Staff recommends awarding a contract to Ferreira Construction Company, Inc., the lowest responsive, responsible bidder for the Essex Park Observation Platform project, in the amount of $463,138.70.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) through its Land and Water Conservation Fund Program has awarded $200,000 in grant funding for the Essex Park project to match Wellington's investment in the outdoor recreation features of the project.
