ITEM: AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE TOWN CENTER BOARDWALK PROJECT
REQUEST: Authorization to award a contract to Simmons and White, Inc. to provide engineering consulting services for the Town Center Boardwalk Project, in the amount of $74,000.

EXPLANATION: On January 29, 2017, Council awarded an engineering services contract (#004-17/DZ) to multiple firms. As part of the solicitation, Simmons and White, Inc., was selected as one of Wellington's engineering service providers. Staff is seeking authorization to utilize such contract with Simmons and White, Inc. to provide engineering consulting services for the Town Center Boardwalk project.
The scope of work includes the following:
* Project coordination and meetings with Village staff.
* Review Village provided survey information.
* Develop final boardwalk schematic design including geometric layout, width, materials and other design considerations.
* Complete final schematic design to incorporate into construction drawings.
* Prepare construction drawings and specifications for the first phase of the boardwalk and hardscape improvements including water services and electrical conduits.
* Prepare permit application to submit to SFWMD.
* Prepare preliminary engineers cost estimate of planned improvements.
* Provide construction administration services.
Staff recommends awarding a contract to Simmons and White, Inc. to provide engineering consulting services for the Town Center Boardwalk project, at a cost of $74,000.
Simmons and White, Inc. will work closely with the selected Construction Manager at Risk firm during the design and construction of the project. The construction Manager at Risk contract shall be presented for consideration, at a future Council meeting.
